Chemical and Civil Engineering Scholarships Australia 2016 – 2017

 

1) Chemical Engineering Student Bursary 2016/ 2017

University Name: The University of Queensland
About: The purpose of the bursary is to encourage and support meritorious students in the second year of study, in any field of engineering associated with the chemical engineering discipline in the Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) program.
Field of study: All Chemical engineering disciplines
Eligibility: An applicant is eligible for the scholarship, if the applicant –
(a) submits an application to the Head, by the closing date for applications; and
(b) is a domestic student within the meaning of the Fee Rules; and
(c) is enrolled full-time in the fourth semester of the Bachelor of Engineering program, in the relevant field; and
(d) achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 4 during the first 3 semesters of the program.

2) Institution of Chemical Engineers, Ming Leung Scholarship 2016/ 2017

University Name: The University of Queensland
About: Established in 1993 and maintained by an annual gift from by the Queensland Branch of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE). Professor Ming Leung was a greatly respected and highly talented chemical engineer as well as Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering from 1980 to 1985. His untimely death was a great loss to both the profession and to the University.
Field of study: Chemical Engineering
Eligibility: An applicant is eligible for the scholarship, if the applicant –
(a) submits an application to the Associate Dean, by the closing date for applications; and
(b) is a domestic student within the meaning of the Fee Rules; and
(c) enrolled full-time in the third year of the Bachelor of Engineering program; and
(d) is a member of IChemE or has applied for membership prior to application; and
(e) does not hold another scholarship that the Associate Dean considers to be similar.

  1. Submit a completed application form by 5pm 17 August;
  2. Submit cover letter addressed to Professor Peter Halley, Head of School, School of Chemical Engineering;
  3. Copy resume;
  4. Copy studies report from mySI-net;
  5. Please provide a copy of your IChemE membership card and state your IChemE membership number.

3) Groeneveld Mining and Minerals Humanitarian Engineering Scholarship 2016/ 2017

About: The scholarship was established by an annual gift from alumnus Mr Oscar Groeneveld and Mrs Peta-Anne Groeneveld to encourage graduates in the disciplines areas of mining engineering and chemical and metallurgical engineering to use their skills in humanitarian ways for the benefit of developing countries.
Field of study: Mining or Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering
Eligibility: An applicant is eligible for the award of a scholarship if:

  • The applicant submits an application for the scholarship to the Associate Dean, by the closing date for applications; and
  • On the date when the applicant submits the application, the applicant:
    • is no more than 12 months from the date of graduation or intends to graduate from an approved undergraduate Engineering program in the relevant field.
    • Does not hold a scholarship that the Associate Dean considers to be similar.

How to apply: Please attach the following:

  • Submit an Groeneveld Mining and Minerals Humanitarian Engineering Scholarship application form (Word doc) to Professor Caroline Crosthwaite, Associate Dean (Academic), Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology via email: scholarships@eait.uq.edu.au, no later than 5.00pm 1 September 2015:
  • A cover letter addressed to Associate Dean (Academic), Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology,
  • Copy of your curriculum vitae (maximum 3 pages,
  • Provide an outline of your proposal of work and/or study program using your skills in humanitarian ways for the benefit of developing countries. The strength of your proposal will be an important part of your application,
  • Provide a budget indicating how the scholarship will be spent,
  • Provide a copy of your UQ academic transcript from mySInet.

4) Campbell Family Rural Scholarship in Civil Engineering 2016/ 2017

University Name: UNSW Sydney
About: This high school leaver scholarship is open to rural students who will be commencing full-time study in a UNSW Bachelor of Engineering in either Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
Field of study: Civil Engineering
Eligibility: Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:

  • Academic merit (estimated ATAR of 91)
  • Good academic ability in Mathematics, English and Science
  • Aptitude and commitment to studies in civil or environmental engineering
  • Personal qualities (for example involvement and achievement in school and community activities, strong leadership and communication skills)

Consideration may be given to any economic circumstances which might otherwise hinder successful transition to UNSW.
