IT & Technology Scholarships Australia 2016/ 2017

 

1) Eden Gardens Honours Scholarship 2016/ 2017

University name: The University of Newcastle, Australia

About: Eden Gardens is an award winning Horticultural Lifestyle Centre located in Macquarie Park adjoining the Lane Cove National Park with facilities including Display Gardens, Garden Centre, retain lifestyle products, cafe and function centre, art gallery, and educational facilities. Eden Gardens’ reason for being is to enrich people’s lives with plants.
Field of study: Science and Information Technology
Eligibility: To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled in the Bachelor of Natural History Illustration (Honours) program in the Faculty of Science and IT, University of Newcastle.
  • Be willing to undertake an intensive study of plants in the Display Garden at Eden Gardens over a six week period, and then create a body of artworks to be exhibited at the Eden Gardens Art Gallery.
  • Not hold another scholarship
  • Not hold a previous undergraduate degree.
  • Not be the recipient of another UoN Donor funded or sponsored scholarship concurrently.

2) University of South Australia Computer Grant 2016/ 2017

University Name: University of South Australia
About: The University of South Australia Computer Grants have been established to assist students with full-time or part-time enrolment in an undergraduate, diploma or Foundation program at the University of South Australia by providing them with $1,500 to purchase a computer.
Field of study: Computers/ IT

Eligibility: Recipients must be Australian citizens, Permanent Residents or holders of a Permanent Humanitarian Visa and will be selected according to the selection criteria:

  • part-time or full-time enrolment in an undergraduate, diploma or Foundation program at the University of South Australia
  • demonstrated financial disadvantage
How to apply: Applicants must complete and submit the University of South Australia Computer Grant – Study Support Statement (MS Word) as part of their application.

3) The Frank Joseph Murphy Bursary 2016/ 2017

University Name: The University of Queensland
About: The Bursary is awarded on the basis of academic merit and the value of the proposed study for the engineering component of the BE or BE (Hons).
Field of study: Awarded to either a BE(Electrical), BE(Computer Systems) or BE(Software) undergraduate student to undertake an exchange program with an overseas institution or a BE (Electrical), BE(Computer Systems) or BE(Software) graduate of not more than 2 years standing to undertake further study outside Australia.
Eligibility: The Bursary is open to –

  • Students undertaking a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) (including dual program) or Bachelor of  Engineering / Master of Engineering (BE/ME) in a major administered by  the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering and who are undertaking exchange programs with overseas institutions; and
  • BE (including dual program) or BE/ME graduates of not more than 2 years standing with a BE or BE/ME major admininstered by the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering and who will use the Bursary to undertake further study outside Australia.

4) AlphaCC Scholarships 2016/ 2017

Sponsor: Alpha Computer Consultants
About: Alpha Computer Consultants is an Adobe Certified Training Provider, running courses in graphic design, web and print production, colour management and video and multimedia.
The successful candidate will have access to a Level 1, 2 and 3 (if level 3 is available) course in any of our Adobe courses such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Premiere Pro and After Effects.
Field of study: IT
Eligibility: The applicant must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the scholarship:-

  • Be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident,
  • Be a part time or full time student at an Australian College or University. The applicant must be able to show which tertiary education establishment they are attending,
  • Be enrolled and studying in a design course,

How to apply:

  • Select 3 of you own pieces of work which illustrate your passion for design.
  • Write a short submission of 500 words indicating the course you are studying and telling us why you think Alpha Computer Consultants Adobe training courses will help develop your creative ability and enhance your design skills.
  • Submit your submission and pieces of work to scholarship@alphacc.com.au by 31st October annually.
  • Scholarship to be awarded at the judge’s discretion.
  • Successful applicant will be notified by email by 30 November annually.

5) FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COMMENDATION SCHOLARSHIP 2016/ 2017

About: This scholarship was established in 2015 to support high achieving students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are studying within the Faculty of Science and IT.
Field of study: Science and Information Technology
Eligibility: To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled in the second or third year of any program within the Faculty of Science and IT at the University of Newcastle.
  • Must have been on the Faculty Commendation List in the year prior to applying for this scholarship.
  • Be enrolled full-time.
  • Hold a current Centrelink Low Income Health Care Card (HCC).
  • Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or the holder of a Permanent Humanitarian Visa.
  • Not hold a previous undergraduate degree.

6) Westpac Bicentennial Foundation Young Technologist Scholarships 2016/ 2017

University Name: Deakin University
About: These scholarships will deepen and broaden Australia’s pool of technology talent by encouraging greater diversity and removing socio-economic barriers to study.
Field of study: Computer Science, Information Technology or Information Systems
Eligibility: To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia
  • be a commencing student enrolled for the first time at Deakin University in your first year of your Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Information Technology or Bachelor of Information Systems degree in Trimester 1
  • be enrolled full time in a Commonwealth Supported Place
  • have a minimum ATAR of 75
  • display an interest in enhancing Australia’s technology and/or digital landscape
  • be able to demonstrate you are in receipt of a means-tested Centrelink benefit or have a personal or combined family taxable income below the HECS-HELP repayment threshold, depending on independence status.

  • a copy of your academic records or projected ATAR marks as verified by your high school
  • one page outline of how the scholarship will assist you in your career ambitions.

You may choose to be creative by producing a video or other imagery to support your online application.
